Casting For Video

Once I had chosen my song I needed to decide upon a cast for my video. The song included a "screamo" segment for which I wanted a person who fits the stereotypical appearance of a screamo singer. My friend Kyle Kent said he was interested and his general aura fitted the bill, he was also a fan of Oli Sykes, the man who's lyrics he would be singing so there was no worry of commitment.

For the rest of the song I decided to use myself. I saw it as easier as I knew the lyrics, enjoyed the song and I knew what I wanted to achieve from this character. Also me and Kyle get along so would easily work well together.

Song Choice

Following my surveys I saw that the majority of answers called for a rock song, particularly by either You Me At Six (YM@6/YMA6) or Blink 182 but I didn't want to narrow myself to one of these bands so I created a second list of related bands and songs and chose from them they were:

YMA6 - Bite My Tongue
Blink 182 - Story Of A Lonely Guy
The Offspring - The Kids Aren't Alright
Linkin Park - Numb
30 Seconds To Mars - The Kill

Out of these songs I liked the idea of doing a "heavy" song, this narrowed my choice down to YMA6 or 30STM. In the end I chose Bite My Tongue as I have the better ideas for a video concerning this song.

Editing Logo

These are the stages of developing my logo. Using photoshop and tools such as magic eraser I manipulated images to create a badge.

Play The Fool Logo Designs...

For my band Play The Fool (PTF) I have created various logos for artwork such as the digipack and in the end narrowed it down to two designs...

I have chosen the first logo for my project as I feel the lighter colours work better than the darker equivalent also I asked classmates which they liked more and the majority chose the first version.

Gathering Information; Surveys

To help collect info on which genre of music I should use for my video I produced a questionnaire and collected around 200 answers which varied from solid paper copies to an identical online version using "Survey Monkey". Below I have included photographs of a few paper replies of my survey as well as a blank copy...
